Even Start Family Literacy Program Competitive Grant Process
Unlike other Title I programs, Even Start Family Literacy funds were awarded through a competitive sub- grant process rather than by formula. Bright from the Start awarded grants to eligible partnerships between local education agencies (LEA) and other organizations and agencies. Like other federal programs, the Even Start Family Literacy Program was funded through the annual congressional appropriations process.
William F. Goodling, Even Start Family Literacy Program was not funded for the FFY11, and all services will be discontinued by September 30, 2012. No future competition for funding will be held.

Georgia received $2,165,119 in Federal funds for Even Start Family Literacy for the Federal funding period July 7, 2010 - September 30, 2011.
