Curriculum Resources
Food for Thought Curriculum
is a fun and exciting 32-lesson curriculum that integrates nutrition activities into math, science, and literacy education.
More Than Mud Pies
is a 54-lesson curriculum built around the seasons of the year. This curriculum uses age-appropriate activities to teach children about growth, nutrition, and food preparation.
Healthy Habits for Life Child Care Resource Kit:
Provides easy to use tools featuring Sesame Street characters that teach children about eating right and being physically active. The resource kit provides lessons and activities that fit with existing routines and provide ways to establish a connection with children’s families so that healthy habits continue at home.
Team Nutrition Curriculums and Resources:
Team Nutrition provides a variety of free resources for child care providers, including games, cookbooks, menu planning, parent newsletters, and even a gardening curriculum. Visit the above site for resources that can change your facility’s nutrition and physical activity habits.
Serving Up MyPlate: A Yummy Curriculum
is a collection of classroom materials to help elementary school teachers integrate nutrition education into the math, science, and literacy curriculum. This curriculum is easily adapted to meet the needs of younger children while introducing them to the five food groups. The curriculum contains teacher’s guides, original songs, mini posters, parent handouts, and additional games/resources.
Eat Healthy. Be Active Curriculum.
Bright from the Start and key partners developed the “Eat Healthy. Be Active” curriculum and corresponding kit to help caregivers of young children encourage and reinforce healthy eating and being physically active. “Eat Healthy. Be Active” Supplemental Music Activity videos were also developed as an additional tool to teach children about basic health concepts at an early age. We recommend that the music videos be used in conjunction with the curriculum and activity kit, but it can also be used as a stand-alone resource.
If you are interested in obtaining the corresponding curriculum and kit, they are available for loan (free of charge) from your local child care resource and referral agency (CCR&R). A list of the six CCR&Rs can be found on the Georgia Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies web site (
