Healthy Initiatives
At Bright from the Start, we are committed to helping your early care and learning facility to provide the healthiest environment possible for the children in your
care. Understanding the value of improved nutrition and physical activity in child care has motivated Bright from the Start to develop a variety of initiatives to
assist your facility in reaching and maintaining best practices. Our healthy initiatives included:
Caregivers Promoting Healthy Habits is a grant program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Team Nutrition. This program is intended to improve
the nutrition and physical activity practices of child care facilities through the implementation of a wellness policy.
Farm to Preschool is an exciting initiative aimed at positively influencing young children’s food preferences through the introduction of fresh, local foods at an
early age. This program teaches children about healthy food choices by facilitating hands-on education and experiential learning through activities such as taste tests,
cooking, and gardening. Farm to Preschool benefits children, caregivers, families, and the community.
The Georgia SHAPE Award honors and recognizes early care and education programs that employ exceptional nutrition and physical activity practices that go above and beyond current licensing standards.
