Each year, DECAL joins the Governor and several state agencies in calling for families and caregivers of children to have a heightened awareness of the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles. We have produced these public service announcements to help raise awareness and prevent heatstroke deaths of children year round, but especially during the hot summer months.

Look Again 2025 Kickoff Event

For the twelfth consecutive year, DECAL is reminding families and caregivers of children to be alert to the danger of leaving children unattended in vehicles. The goal of this year's “Look Again” campaign is to ensure that families, child care providers, and the public understand how to prevent pediatric vehicular heatstroke and remain vigilant when transporting children during Georgia's hottest months. On May 1, National Heatstroke Prevention Day, DECAL collaborated with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) and the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHTSA) for a news conference at the Cobb County Safety Village in Marietta. Speakers at the event included DECAL Commissioner Amy M. Jacobs and GHOS Director Allen Poole.

This year’s “Look Again” campaign aligns with National Heatstroke Prevention Day on July 1, 2020, to ensure that families, child care providers, and the public understand how to prevent pediatric vehicular heatstroke.

On May 29, 2018, Governor Nathan Deal, First Lady Sandra Deal, and Commissioner Amy M. Jacobs called for Georgia families and caregivers of children to have heightened awareness of the dangers of leaving children alone in vehicles.

On June 14, 2017, Governor Nathan Deal, First Lady Sandra Deal, and Commissioner Amy M. Jacobs called for families and caregivers of children to have heightened awareness of the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles. Since 2010, 13 children in Georgia have died due to vehicular heatstroke.

On May 31, 2016, Governor Nathan Deal, First Lady Sandra Deal, and Commissioner Amy M. Jacobs called for families and caregivers of children to have heightened awareness of the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles. On June 3, 2015, Governor Nathan Deal, First Lady Sandra Deal, and DECAL Commissioner Amy M. Jacobs called for families and caregivers of children to have heightened awareness of the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles. They encouraged the public to share this video with their family and friends.

On May 27, 2014, DECAL joined Governor Nathan Deal, First Lady Sandra Deal, and leaders of several state agencies to officially launch the “Look Again” public awareness campaign and this YouTube video. View this video here.
