CACFP Applicant Information
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded program that reimburses providers for serving nutritious meals to children or adults
in a day care environment. Providers include child care centers, adult care centers, emergency shelters, family child care homes, and after-school programs.
Funding for the
comes through grants to the states from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). In Georgia,
Bright from the Start administers the program.
For the most part, providers participating in the
are reimbursed for serving children age 12 years or younger. However, after-school programs serving school-age children through age 18 may be eligible for reimbursement through the
