At its November 17, 2011 meeting, the Bright from the Start Board passed the proposed rule amendments for exemptions (Rule 290-2-2-.05), and transportation requirements for child care learning centers (Rule 591-1-1-.36) and group day care homes (Rule 290-2-1-.11).

The Board expressed concerns regarding the day camp exemptions category (No. 7) and requested the Department convene a work group composed of early care and education stakeholders so that further study and recommendations concerning this category could be made to the Board at their next meeting in February 2012. Also, the Board extended the emergency transportation rules for child care learning centers and group day care homes originally passed in July 2011 so that these requirements (enhanced transportation checklists, second physical check of vehicle) remain in place until the permanent rule changes for transportation requirements become effective in December 2011.
