License Fee Information
Bright from the Start is collecting annual license fees for the 2012 calendar year beginning November 1, 2011. Payment of the annual license fee is due by December 1, 2011. Georgia law requires annual license fees for child care learning centers, group day care homes, and family day care homes.

To ensure accurate processing, you must include the name and license number of your child care program on your payment.

Also note that the law authorizes Bright from the Start to “impose a late fee of up to $250.00 for failure of an early care and education program to pay the annual fee for licensure, registration, or commission within 30 days of due date as established by the department.” See O.C.G.A. Section 20-1A-12(c)(7). Late fees in the amount of half of the license fee for your child care program will be assessed after December 31, 2011 as shown in the above chart.
All current licenses and registration certificates expire December 31, 2011. If you make the license fee payment online with a credit card, or by sending a certified/ cashier's check or money order, Bright from the Start will e-mail the 2012 license or registration certificate for your child care program to the e-mail address on file upon processing of the payment. If you make the license fee payment online with an electronic check, Bright from the Start will e-mail the 2012 license or registration certificate for your child care program to you after 30 days.
